NASHVILLE, TN — In continued celebration of its Centennial Year, American Baptist College presents the third free webinar in its Centennial Legacy Academic Lunch & Learn Series on Tuesday, April 16, at noon Central time.

Featuring Dr. Britni Michelle Johnson, Minister of Digital Discipleship at the Victory Grace Center in Upper Marlboro, MD, this session is titled “Reimagining Ministry Using AI Tools” and will focus on the use of artificial intelligence tools to help lighten the work load for pastors and those in ministry. The webinar is free to view through American Baptist College Facebook, @ABCedu1924 or on YouTube @AmericanBaptistCollege1924.

Previous webinars may also be viewed on these channels.

The lecture series is the College’s most recent effort to further connect the campus and community through technology. In 2023, American Baptist College received a nearly $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Telecommunications and Information Administration, for its Connecting Minority Communities pilot program. The grant will assist the College in becoming a technology hub for residents in the surrounding community, and will include a partnership with the Northwest YMCA to provide resources and connections to patrons there.

“This Centennial Legacy Lunch & Learn series has enabled us to continue to provide cutting-edge tools to our students, as well as current and future pastors and church leaders,” said Dr. Febbie Dickerson, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services. “For those who may have missed the first two webinars, or those who want to learn more about the history of American Baptist College, I invite you to visit our YouTube channel.”

The mission of American Baptist College, a Historically Black College with a liberal arts emphasis, is to educate, graduate, and prepare diverse students for Christian leadership, service, and social justice in the world. Founded in 1924 by black and white Baptists, ABC’s vision is to provide educational opportunities for gifted students who have limited academic experiences and resources but unlimited potential for leadership in society. The school continues today firmly rooted in its historic purpose to promote higher education through a Christ-centered vision of the world for under-served students. This commitment entails the education of persons regardless of their age, class, ethnicity, gender or race in an environment that frees persons to be active learners, servant-leaders, and moral citizens of the world.

Events for the Centennial Celebration will take place on campus and include several community-focused events. The Celebration culminates in October with a week of activities including the annual 67th Annual Garnett-Nabritt Lectures and a black-tie event on Friday, October 25, at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville.
